Jackson Koivun kept his fast start going, birdieing 1 and 3 to get to 2-under par and crack the top 20 at T18. He’s still only through three holes, but the early damage has him in position to keep climbing if the putter stays hot.

Gary Woodland is off to a quick start at the 3M Open. His birdie at the second hole moved him to 1-under par and from 55th to T36, a solid early step toward joining the main pack before the round settles in.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s Round 1 has flipped in the right direction. A birdie at the 12th got him to 1-under par and up from 55th to T36, a useful reset after starting outside the top 50 and a chance to keep climbing late.

Luke List’s day flipped at the last hole. The double bogey at 18 dropped him from 2-under par back to even and slid him from the top 20 into the pack, erasing the early momentum he had built through most of the round.

Nick Hardy gave back a shot and slid from a share of 31st to 48th, dropping from 1-under to even par. In a tightly packed board, that leaves him seven behind Grillo and needing a quick rebound to get back into the opening-round mix.

Garrick Higgo’s round stalled late with a double bogey at 17, undoing a birdie at 1 and turning a 1-under-par start into 1-over par. He slid from 31st to 66th with one hole left, a sharp drop in a crowded opening leaderboard.

Andrew Putnam added another birdie at the 7th and turned a solid start into a move up to 4-under par and tied for seventh. He’s four shots behind Emiliano Grillo, but that keeps him inside the first chase group as the leaders settle in.

Beau Hossler kept himself in the hunt early, adding a stroke to get to 2-under par and move into the top 20. From 6 holes in, he's part of a crowded chase pack at T19, six back of Emiliano Grillo and still with plenty of golf left.

Andrew Putnam kept trimming the number, going from 2-under par to 3-under par and climbing into a tie for 11th. He’s still a few shots off the pace, but that kind of rise can make the middle of the pack look crowded quickly.

Lucas Glover's move to 6-under par vaulted him from a tie for fifth to a share of second, and he’s now just two shots behind Emiliano Grillo. In a Round 1 shootout, that keeps one of the week’s biggest names right in the chase.

Adam Hadwin kept shaving shots off early, going from 1-under par to 2-under par and jumping into a tie for 18th. At 6 shots off Emiliano Grillo's lead, he's suddenly in the mix if the flat stick keeps cooperating.

Karl Vilips' birdie at 16 got him to 2-under par and sparked a big rise from 30th into a tie for 19th. He’s six shots off Emiliano Grillo’s pace, but the birdie gives him a foothold on the leaderboard as Round 1 winds down.

Jeffrey Kang's birdie at 12 pulled him to 4-under par and up from 13th to a tie for sixth. That kind of jump matters early, because it moves him out of the pack and into the next wave of contenders with plenty of golf left.

Chandler Phillips added another shot to his tally, rising from fifth to a share of second at 6-under par. He's only one back of Emiliano Grillo's 7-under-par lead, so his opening round has him firmly in the first chase group.

Rasmus Højgaard’s steady finish lifted him from 27th to a share of 20th at 2-under par. Three birdies at 6, 8 and 18 offset bogeys at 7 and 11, keeping him inside the top 20 and in the mix after a full round.
